Mohgwyn Palace is one of the most enigmatic subterranean regions in Elden Ring, situated deep underneath the lands of Caelid and the Siofra River. Home to Mohg, Lord of Blood, this optional late-game zone features valuable treasures, prime rune farming spots, and the critical gateway required to access the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Knowing how to navigate to this mysterious location can save players significant time during their journey through the Lands Between.
Where to Find Mohgwyn Palace on the Map
Geographically, Mohgwyn Palace rests in an isolated underground cavern located beneath Caelid. Despite its subterranean placement, you cannot simply traverse to it directly from the standard Siofra River well depths. The area operates as its own distinct realm that requires special teleportation methods or specific quest items to enter.
Reaching Mohgwyn Palace via White Mask Varre Quest
The fastest route to Mohgwyn Palace involves completing the sidequest line given by White Mask Varre. After obtaining a Great Rune and speaking with Varre at the Rose Church in Liurnia, players must complete invasions using Festering Bloody Fingers. Upon completing his favors, Varre awards you the Pureblood Knight's Medal, an item that can be used directly from your inventory to instantly teleport straight to the palace grounds.
Using the Consecrated Snowfield Teleporter
For players progressing naturally without completing Varre's questline, a secret waygate portal offers an alternative entry late in the game. You must first collect both halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion to access the frozen Consecrated Snowfield via the Grand Lift of Rold. Once there, head to the far western cliffs northwest of the Yelough Anix Ruins, defeat an invading NPC named the Sanguine Noble, and activate the blood-stained portal.
Key Reasons to Explore Mohgwyn Palace
Reaching Mohgwyn Palace provides several major gameplay advantages for adventurers. The area surrounding the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace offers the premier rune farming route in the game. Furthermore, defeating Mohg at the top of the mausoleum grants his Great Rune and unlocks Miquella's Cocoon, which serves as the entry point for expansion content.
